Vanessa & Georg Klezmer Duo

"Meeting Moishe"
An evening of Klezmer music and Yiddish songs from the collection of the legendary Moishe Beregovski

Vanessa Vromans : Violin, Vocals
Georg Brinkmann : Clarinet, Vocals and Piano

Duo Vanessa Vromans and Georg Brinkmann play the music of East European Jews with the intensity of chamber musicians. This rarely heard arrangement allows for individual expression and improvisation. Using the fiddle, clarinet and vocals Klezmer music and Yiddish song is presented both as originally intended and becomes experimental at the same time. The programme draws on the rich treasure trove of songs and instrumentals from the legendary Beregovski collection.

Australian-born Vanessa Vromans studied classical violin and World Music in Rotterdam. Within a short time she became a sought-after fiddler on the European Klezmer stage and formed the "Rotterdam Klezmer Band". She is a member of the "Intercontinental Klezmer Band" and plays as guest musician with several famous bands such as "Khevrisa", "Shtetl Band Amsterdam", "Di Fidl Kapelye", the "Global Shtetl Band", and "nu".
Georg Brinkmann, qualified musical therapist, is as clarinettist, singer and dancer one of the big names on the Klezmer stage. He founded the groups "huljet" and "nu" and plays with "fir", and appears as guest musician with "Budowitz". He teaches at various international Klezmer workshops: these have included Weimar, Leeuwarden and Mönchengladbach.
